When Zihan joined VRLC in December 2022, he was in his first year majoring in Bachelor of Social Sciences at HKU.

Learning:

----- 2023 January ----- "Since I'm a social science student, the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act attracts my attention at the first glance. Through the experience in VRLC, I explored related materials a lot instead of simply browsing them. I did lots of research beyond the Act itself, and tried to understand its influence from different perspectives. This project offers me a precious opportunity to learn more about the relationship between politics and economics in American society, as well as the mutual effects of the policies and economic situation. Besides, the process of video production also hone my relevant skills."

----- 2023 February ----- "The second project of mine focused on the Hong Kong economic development and current situation. During the process of preparing the materials of the slides, I read lots of related journals and passages, gaining much deeper understanding for the Hong Kong economy. Previously, the only impression in my mind was that Hong Kong is the financial center in Asia-Pacific region with flourishing economy. However, after producing this video, I come to realize some long-existing problems and the development trend behind. And I also grabbed the data from different sources so as to make the charts and graphs, which honed my skills in statistical analysis."

----- 2023 May ----- "There is no denying that the concept of ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) has become one of the hottest topics in the financial market. From stakeholders to private investors, lots of people are putting more and more emphasis upon it. Through this project, I have learned lots of new ideas and business cases related to ESG, which has deepened my understanding into the green finance and sustainable economy. I also got the chance to explore more about Hong Kong's role and efforts in transforming to a potential ESG hub and green finance center. Based these experiences, I believe I will continue to keep learning more about it."

----- 2023 June ----- "Nowadays, Asia is at the cusp of the biggest intergenerational wealth transfer, and therefore family offices still have much room to grow and boom in Hong Kong. From the economic background to the business environment, I try to understand the logic behind these "cells" in the vibrant modern financial industries, and I actually gained much deeper insight into this topic through the experience and learning process under VRLC. Furthermore, I have come to recognize the tremendous growth potential of these sectors following the pandemic period, which has unveiled countless opportunities for Hong Kong's development."
