Who is Ka-fu Wong? A partial introduction.


I was born and raised in Hong Kong.

I obtained my Bachelor and M.Phil. degree in Economics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. From 1989 to 1991, for two years, I taught at the Hong Kong Polytechnic (later became a university). From 1991 to 1997, I pursued my PhD degree in Economics at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

In the summer of 1997, after obtaining my Ph.D. degree, I joined the Economics Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2002 Fall, I joined the School of Economics and Finance of the University of Hong Kong.

In 2016, I decided to retire and thus left the University of Hong Kong. It turned out, it was only a gap year.

In 2017, I returned to the University of Hong Kong as a full-time member.


Yes. Many more things had happened inbetween these major markers. Life is too short for me to spend time writing up the past. I would prefer to live in the present.
